MediaTek Honored as Chipset Company of the Year 2012

MediaTek Inc., a leading semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, has been conferred with Voice&Data Telecom Leadership Award in the ‘Chipset Company of the Year 2012 for Feature Phones’ category, for its leading market position in the segment.


MediaTek chipsets powers most of the budget Android smartphones. Some the micromax phones powered by Mediatek include A44 Superfone Punk, A80 Superfone Infinity, A45 Superfone Punk and many more.

MediaTek has successfully been providing solutions to make feature phones more competitive and smart by incorporating smartphone-like features. And now, with the changing trend in the mobile phone industry, MediaTek has also moved to introduce more affordable solutions to help commence a new era of smartphones in India. Earlier this year, MediaTek has launched its first dual-core platform, MT6577, developed specifically for sub-$200 smartphones, adding to its much acclaimed and well accepted HSPA smartphone platforms MT6573 and MT6575. The budget-friendly smartphones powered by the MT6577 are set to surge the next growth of entry level smartphones industry in India as it enables features which were so far available only in very expensive and high-end mobile phones, thereby further democratizing smartphones.
